2: 20th December, Adityapur Auto Cluster
Vendor
Development Programme for Railways and Defence Sector organized by Government
of Jharkhand at Adityapur Auto Cluster, Jamshedpur concluded today. The
programme was organized by the State Government in association with the
Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Railways.
The Programme attracted
prospective investors from across the state of Jharkhand and specially pulled
crowd from the MSME sector in Adityapur. This event provided platform to various Organization including PSUs in Railways
& Defence, Industry Leaders, OEMs manufacturing for defence and railways
sectors, think tanks and policy makers to come together and
discuss the prospects for venturing out and expansion in the focus sectors i.e.
Railways and Defence. On Day 2 of the event B2B meetings were organized which
received overwhelming response and in-depth interactions between the
prospective & existing vendors and the representatives from Ministry of
Defence and Ministry of Railways were witnessed.
Exclusive seminars were
organized today for “Opportunities in Railways Sector” and “Incubator
Roundtable”. A Seminar on “Opportunities in Defence Sector” took place
yesterday.
2nd Day of the
event started with a seminar on “Opportunities in Railways Sector” to showcase
insights regarding the equipment and spare requirements by Railways. At this
session, the officials from the Railway PSUs communicated that they are in need
of capable vendors for various equipment, parts etc. for both manufacturing and
maintenance.
Shri Ratnakar Pandey, Chief
Materials Manager, briefed about the South Eastern Railways and the online
procedure of Railways for material management. He shared that his division/
railways is already procuring materials from Jharkhand for Modern Coach
Factory, Raibareli and they encourage more vendors from Jharkhand to be a part
of the vendor base for Railways.
Speaking on the occasion
Shri Ujjawal Kr Mahto discussed on Ease of Doing Business in Railway and shared
that the initiatives have considerably increased transparency in the system. He
shared that digitization has today touched all areas of railways, mainly the
e-tender process, materials management and Inspection process. He discussed
about the e-tender process, along with the reverse auction in detail and said
that in coming days Railways will try to have complete digitization of the
process across all its sub-segments. He shared the benefits to MSMEs arising
out of having business with Railways. He also discussed about the benefits
under Make in India Policy to the local suppliers and the related vendor registration
process.
The session also had Shri
Rajesh Aggrawal, Group General Manager, RITES, and Mr. Sanjay Sinha, Senior DGM
- HEC as speakers. They discussed about the opportunities in the Railways
Sectors and the ways as to how to associate with railways and work as a vendor
for it.
Day 2 of the Event concluded
with a Roundtable for Incubators, in which the prospects for the budding
entrepreneurs and existing entrepreneurs expanding in these sectors were
discussed. Shri K Ravi Kumar proposed to establish an Incubator Cell in
Jamshedpur to support the upcoming industries in these sectors.
Both the sessions were
attended by ~150 delegates each, these were from across a wide array of
stakeholders from Defence and Railway sectors. The event was a great success
and all the stakeholders from the Defence and Railways sectors appreciated the
efforts from the State Government in organizing this first of its kind Vendor
Development Program in the State.
