Ranchi. TATA Power has put up a stall in Urja Diwas
program organised here at Angara Block. However TATA Power is present in
complete value chain of Power Sector i.e. fuel & Logistics, generation,
transmission and distribution, the main focus of stall was primarily the power
distribution part. Content displayed at the stall in terms of video and through
brochures was very impressive and mainly focussed on transformation of Power
Distribution sector with help of Technology. TATA Power’s Delhi subsidiary,
TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TATA Power-DDL), was the key attraction
in TATA Power’s Stall primarily due to the work they have done in their License
area of North and North West Delhi. They claimed to have reduced the AT&C
losses of their areas from 53% from the date of acquisition in year 2002 to
8.4% as on financial year ending 2018. Apart
from showcasing technology, their CSR initiatives that primarily focussed on
upliftment of social and economic levels of their BPL consumers, was another
impressive showcase.
TATA Power-DDL
representative Mr. Sandeep Dhamija quoted “We know that electricity is basic
need and unless we lift economic and social level of our poor consumers, they
would not be able to pay for the electricity they consume. We help our BPL
consumers mainly staying in slums through various initiatives like providing
them social security through insurance cover, providing health facilities
through availability of doctors and medicines, literacy camps especially for
women, drug deaddiction camps, imparting skills and assisting their job
placements in areas like retail bazars, food delivery chains, saloons & SPA
shops. Many women from slums are our brand ambassadors who help up in
propagating our policies. Due to TATA’s DNA of giving back to society, we are
also benefitted in terms of low AT&C losses. Our billing and collection
efficiencies from slums are approx. 90%”.
Mr. Rakesh
Ranjan another TATA Power representative said “TATA Power always believe in
self-sustainable approach that creates value for our consumers. While we have
investments in Jharkhand through our Jojobera and Maithon power plants, we
intent to do more in Jharkhand mainly in distribution sector. TATA Power-DDL is already working with
Jharkhand in various initiatives that includes electrification in DDUGJY 12th
plan, assisting JBVNL in implementation of state of art technologies like SCADA
and Smart metering aimed at providing 24 x 7 power and better customer
services.” We would be keen to invest in distribution sector in Jharkhand if
there is an opportunity, their representative replied to a question.
