Ranchi,: Buoyed by response of the foreign delegates and the participating nations coupled with the enthusiasm shown by the more than 10,000 farmers who attended the two day Global Agriculture and Food Summit at the Khelgaon here Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that Jharkhand will be first state in the country where the income of the farmers will increase four times by the year 2022.
Addressing a press conference at the end of the two day mega event he said it was due to the hardwork of the farmers of the state due to which the agriculture growth rate which was minus 4.5 per cent in the year 2013-14 has witnessed a jump of 19 per cent and presently stood around more than 14 per cent. He said that the result was also an indication of the policies and the programmes which have been launched by the state government for the welfare of the farmers and improving their economic conditions.
He said that the Global Agriculture Summit provided the right platform where farmers came to know about the modern practices and latest technologies in the agricultural field and gained experience as to how with less investment they can further maximize their yield. He said that the farmers should only worry about increasing their farm output as the task of the marketing and processing would be taken care by the state government. Mr Das said during the two day function foundation was also laid for 50 food processing units.
Pointing the key gains for Jharkhand he said that soon an agreement would be inked between China and Jharkhand so that the Lady’s finger from the state is sold in that country as talks in this regard have been held with the agriculture officials of that nation. Moreover China would also send a team to study the possibility to set up a food processing plant in the state.
Further the government will also ink technology exchange agreement with Morocco so that the farmers of Jharkhand can gain expertise from their green Morocco plan. Apart from that a centre for excellence would be set up in collaboration with Israel for training of the farmers and in few days a letter in this regard would be written to the Central government, Mr Das said.
The Chief Minister said that Patanjali of Baba Ramdev has already assured that whatever organic products will be produced in the state including food grains, fruits and vegetables and honey would be purchased by them. He said that soon an MoU will also be inked with Patanjali so that a honey processing plant can be set up in the state.
Those who were present on the occasion also included Yog Guru Baba Ramdev, Agriculture Minister Randhir Singh, Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal, Agriculture Secretary Pooja Singhal and others.
